Headlight lenses are made from polycarbonate plastic, which over time oxidizes and turns yellow or cloudy when exposed to UV radiation and road conditions. This is a normal aging process and affects most vehicles that are more than a few years old. Yellowed headlights look bad, but more importantly they reduce the effectiveness of your lights significantly, which is a real safety concern.
The longer oxidation is left, the deeper it goes into the lens, and the more sanding stages it takes to fully clear it again. A lens that's only lightly hazed today is a faster, cheaper job than the same lens after another year or two of UV exposure. There's no upside to waiting on this one.
Headlight restoration removes the oxidized surface layer through a controlled wet sanding and polishing process. We work through progressively finer grits to eliminate the yellowing and cloudiness, then machine polish the lens to a clear, optically clean finish. When done properly the lens looks comparable to a new replacement but at a fraction of the cost.
The final step is applying SAÜWER, a German-made headlight polymerization system, over the restored surface. Without this, the polycarbonate will begin to oxidize again within months because the original factory UV coating has been sanded away during restoration. The manufacturer rates it for significantly longer, but we back every restoration with a straightforward 5-year clarity guarantee rather than promising the outer edge of what it can do.
