Headlight Restoration

Cloudy, yellowed headlights restored to full clarity, improving both the look and safety of your vehicle.

Headlight lenses are made from polycarbonate plastic, which over time oxidizes and turns yellow or cloudy when exposed to UV radiation and road conditions. This is a normal aging process and affects most vehicles that are more than a few years old. Yellowed headlights look bad, but more importantly they reduce the effectiveness of your lights significantly, which is a real safety concern.

Headlight restoration removes the oxidized surface layer through a controlled wet sanding and polishing process. We work through progressively finer grits to eliminate the yellowing and cloudiness, then machine polish the lens to a clear, optically clean finish. When done properly the lens looks comparable to a new replacement but at a fraction of the cost.

The final step is applying a UV-resistant sealant or coating over the restored surface. Without this, the polycarbonate will begin to oxidize again within months because the original factory UV coating has been sanded away during restoration. The sealant significantly extends how long the restoration lasts.

Headlight restoration is one of the best value improvements you can make to an older vehicle. Clear lenses make the front of the car look considerably better and the visible improvement in light output at night is something drivers notice immediately. We include it as a standalone service or as part of a larger detailing or bodywork job.

How It Works

01

Lens Assessment

Headlights inspected to confirm the degree of oxidation and whether restoration is suitable or a replacement is the better call.

02

Masking

Surrounding paint masked carefully to protect it during the sanding stages.

03

Wet Sanding

Oxidized surface layer removed through progressive wet sanding from coarser to finer grits.

04

Machine Polish

Lens polished by machine to restore full optical clarity.

05

UV Sealant

UV-resistant clear coat or sealant applied to protect the restored lens and extend the result.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between polishing and restoring headlights?

Polishing is a lighter treatment that removes surface haze and restores shine without sanding. Restoration is the full process: wet sanding through multiple grits, machine polishing, and a UV sealant, which addresses deeper oxidation and yellowing. For genuinely cloudy or yellowed headlights, we recommend full restoration since polishing alone won't fix the deeper problem.

Is cleaning enough for cloudy headlights?

Usually not. A regular clean removes dust and surface grime, but cloudy or hazy headlights are caused by oxidation of the polycarbonate lens itself, which sits deeper than the surface. That needs wet sanding and machine polishing, not just cleaning. We inspect your headlights and tell you honestly whether a clean is enough or full restoration is needed.

How much does headlight polishing cost in Sarajevo?

Headlight restoration and polishing starts from 100 KM per vehicle. The final price depends on how oxidized the lenses are and how many headlights need work. We inspect the lenses and give you a clear quote before starting.

How do I know if my headlights are fixable?

Cloudy headlights look hazy, yellowed, or dull instead of clear and glossy, usually on vehicles a few years old or more. Almost all of these can be fixed with restoration, except in rare cases where the lens itself is physically cracked or damaged, where replacement makes more sense. We'll tell you honestly which applies to your car.
